Meet Our New Ham

Little MichaelIt was not too long ago when I had to buried our last boy, Carrots. The other boy, Corn, Carrot’s son, died a month prior.

I am quite sure that no matter how big or small your pet is, there is always a sense of loss felt when they die. Seriously, I felt sad. They are small yet somewhat affectionate characters. A lot of fun to have around. It took me a while to actually clean up and put away the empty cage.

Well, it so happened that we were at Great World City yesterday. As with our usual habit with us and Great World, we would always make a quick trip upstairs to the pet shop. There they were, in a tank on the bottom shelf were 3 small baby Syrian Hamsters.

They looked too adorable to ignore and the wife looked and me asked if I wanted one. Somehow I knew she wanted another boy to replace the ones we just lost. I nodded. Honestly, I was a little hesitant at first, but no one can deny the boy we picked had such a cute face. We bought him and brought him home.

There you go, that’s how we got Michael. If Peas, the old girl, is still around, we might just mate them.
